Ashley Young has revealed that the Manchester United players are doing everything they can to make Juan Mata as welcome as possible - and revealed that the Spaniard is yet to undergo the traditional welcome to a new club - singing a song in front of the entire squad.
The Spaniard made his debut for the reigning champions in their 2-0 win over Cardiff in mid-week, and will look to continue his winning start when they travel to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke this weekend.
Most new arrivals at clubs are forced to sing an embarrassing song in order to break the ice soon after their arrival - but as yet Mata has been able to avoid that fate.
Asked if there will be a song from Mata ahead of Manchester United's game against Stoke, Young said: ‘There might be. I am not sure when it has to happen, or if it does. We’ll have to wait and see.
The winger continued: "You are welcomed with open arms at Manchester United. The banter is brilliant and there is a great team spirit. There are some great characters and everybody gets on with everyone. I have never experienced anything like it."
After Tottenham's humbling at the hands of Manchester City last night, Manchester United are just three points off 5th place and six points adrift of Liverpool in 4th.
Young believes that the arrival of Mata at Old Trafford has caused a buzz about the place that will only help in their quest for Champions League qualification.
There will be a lot of talk about Juan’s arrival and the fact we have broken the transfer record for him,’ the Manchester United winger continued.
‘He’s only trained a few days but he has got to know people and he looks like he has been here for years.
I think it has lifted everyone from the fans, the staff and the players. Obviously, as it’s the transfer window, you are wondering who is coming in and what is going on, so when you see a player like Juan Mata coming in it is fantastic.
'Cardiff was his first game but he has gelled straightaway with the way we have played.
‘He is one of those world-class players who can fit into any team. When he has fully settled in he will add something special to the squad – and we have special players already.
‘A lot has been said about Juan’s arrival and Wayne (Rooney) and Robin (Van Persie) coming back. We have got world-class players throughout the squad.’
