Former two-time New York Giants Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora has come to the defence of his former team-mate Michael Strahan after Warren Sapp said this week he 'wasn't Hall of Fame worthy.'

During his time with the Giants, Strahan set a record for the most sacks in a single season in 2001, and won a Super Bowl in his final season in 2007.

Umenyiora refereed to Sapp as an 'idiot' when asked about Sapp's comments.

"Warren Sapp is an idiot, man. Like, the things he's saying have no merit, they're baseless," Umenyiora told Sports Network.

"He's nowhere near the level of a Michael Strahan. So he shouldn't even open his mouth and talk about that. He [Sapp] can go down and sit somewhere."

Strachan himself has made his own repost to Sapp's comments when he told reporters yesterday, "I'm glad he didn't have a vote."

It seems that Sapp has a problem with Strahan despite the fact that he is in the Hall of Famer himself.

You would think a player of his calibre would not concern himself with taking shots at other greats.

"If you have a problem with somebody it's not their problem. So if you have a problem with me it's not my problem," Strahan continued.

"A tiger does not concern himself with a sheep."

Ouch! Sapp got burned! Twice!
