Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott will be allowed to join West Ham on Friday if they can finalise a £38million deal for Eliaquim Mangala, according to the Daily Mail.
The Citizens are said to be preparing a staggering £38million offer to land Porto's highly-rated centre-back.
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has highlighted the heart of his defence as an area that needs improvement - despite the fact that he already has the likes of Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and Matija Nastasic at his disposal.
However Pellegrini believes Mangala can make a big difference in the title race.
Lescott, who has featured 18 times for Manchester City this season, is thought to be keen on sealing a move away from the Etihad Stadium in order to convince England boss Roy Hodgson that he is worthy of a place in The Three Lions' World Cup squad.
The 31-year-old former Everton defender would be assured of a first-team spot at West Ham as Sam Allardyce is a keen admirer of the Manchester City ace and is keen to bolster his defensive options.
