Max Wittek wants to leave USC

Southern California quarterback Max Wittek won't be at the Coliseum much longer

The Los Angeles Times reported that Wittek will not participate in USC's spring practices and will instead graduate following the semester and transfer to another school.

“I had talked to Coach [Steve Sarkisian] a couple of times,” Wittek told the Times. “What it really came down to was a feel for me…. Getting my degree from such a great university will mean a lot, and ultimately, allowing me to play right away with two years to play was the best way to go.”

Wittek has not spoken to any schools and isn't sure where he'll end up playing, but says he'll be "open to anything."

Wittek joined USC as a four-star prospect from the 2011 recruiting class. He took over the starting job from Matt Barkley in 2012 after Barkley got injured, but split duties with Cody Kessler for the first two games of 2013, before Kessler became the starter for definite.

In his two seasons as a Trojan QB, Wittek threw for 600 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions during Lane Kiffin's painful tenure as head coach.
