Manchester United could make a surprise move for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, reports the Metro.
Townsend, who burst onto the international scene at the beginning of the season, has caught the eye of most and especially David Moyes. Moyes has made no secret that he wants to make changes to his squad, both ins and outs but the signing of Townsend would be huge surprise.
The 22-year-old has had numerous loan spells in his career but made a big breakthrough last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers. His energetic performances also forced Andre Villas Boas into putting faith in Townsend after the sale of fellow winger Gareth Bale and kept summer signings Eric Lamela and Nadir Chadli out of the side.
With the increasing possibility that United winger Nani could leave the club on loan, Moyes will be wanting to take the pressure off youngster Adnan Januzaj who has been arguably United's most creative player this season.
There has been no word from either club yet, but this deal could be a fascinating one that could go down to the wire on deadline day.
