Arsenal's search for midfield cover looks to be over as they close in on a short-term deal for Kim Kallstrom, with John Cross from The Mirror using Twitter to report that the Swedish veteran arrived at the club's training ground this morning to finalise a surprise deal.
Kallstrom emerged as a shock target for Arsenal last night once the news had been confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will spend a further six weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury, joining Theo Walcott as a long-term absentee for the title-chasing Gunners.
Arsene Wenger will also be without Matheiu Flamini for four matches through suspension following his red card at Southampton earlier this week, which has prompted his search for fresh additions on deadline day.
The 31-year-old is at London Colney today after leaving Spartak Moscow's training camp in Abu Dhabi late last night according to Cross, who posted a message on Twitter this morning that the Swedish star could even be in consideration for Sunday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
Kallstrom would represent short term cover who has played Champions League football on a consistent basis throughout a long career, with a loan deal for the rest of the campaign imminent.
