Arsenal have upped their attempts to bring in a striker by tonight’s transfer deadline, by holding talks with German forward Miroslav Klose.
Goal reports that the Gunners have sent their chief contract negotiator, Dick Law, to Italy in order to broker a deal that will bring the veteran hit-man to the Emirates as cover for current frontman Olivier Giroud.
Arsene Wenger had initially been expected to secure the signing of the highly-sought Schalke starlet Julian Draxler, but it’s now thought that he will remain with his Bundesliga club until at least the end of the current campaign.
As such it is believed that Arsenal have turned to Lazio’s Klose, who is now 35-years-old. The former Bayern Munich star is still expected to make Germany’s squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil and should provide Wenger with the required firepower to maintain their current Premier League title tilt.
The north Londoners are also said to be on the verge of bringing in Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom from Spartak Moscow.
