Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has joined Championship outfit Barnsley, according to the club's official site

Frimpong has struggled for chances at the Emirates in recent time and will now hope to kick on in the Championship.

The 22-year-old has signed a permanent deal with the club and has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until June, 2014.

Frimpong has previously enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Wolves, Charlton and Fulham in recent time and he will now be hoping for immediate success in the Championship.

With Frimpong out, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will now be hoping to bring in a fresh face at the Emirates.

Recent reports have suggested that the north London outfit are closing in on a move for Swedish ace Kim Kallstrom.

Arsenal fans will be hoping a new signing can help them to Premier League glory this season. The north London outfit currently sit in second place in the table, just one point behind leaders Manchester City.

And Arsenal will be hoping to secure three points this weekend when they take on Tony Pulis' Crystal Palace side.
