Chelsea are confident of winning the race to sign Manchester United target Luke Shaw, according to the Daily Mirror.

Chelsea believe they have won their game of 'chicken' against Manchester United and will land the highly-rated left-back at the end of the season.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are desperate to bring in a left-back next summer as Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra are coming to the end of their respective deals.

Manchester United were rumoured to have made a £22.5million bid for Shaw at the end of the last week, however it now appears Chelsea will get their number one left-back target in the summer.

Shaw is said to be keen on a move to Chelsea over Manchester United as he is a fan of the west London outfit.

The 18-year-old has been in sensational form for Southampton this season, which has alerted the attention of both Chelsea and Manchester United.

However Southampton have ruled out letting Shaw leave St Mary's in the summer - but may accept a fee in the region of £30million for the defender at the end of the season.
