Liverpool have rejected a deadline day loan bid from Valencia for want-away striker Iago Aspas, according to sources in Spain, reports talkSPORT.
The 26-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact since moving to Merseyside from Celta Vigo during the summer, and has been linked with a return to Spain, where he enjoyed more successful times.
Aspas is yet to break his Premier League goalscoring duck, despite having made 10 appearances for Liverpool, and continues to find regular football difficult to come by, partly due to the prolific partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in attack.
However, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to keep the Spaniard at Anfield, and having held fresh talks with the £7.6million summer signing, has convinced him to stay and fight for his place in the side.
Valencia were keen to complete a short-term deal for Aspas before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday night, but will now be forced to turn attention to alternative targets in the final hours.
