Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is doing all he can to secure the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka before he close of the January transfer window.
The Ukrainian international has been linked with a move to Tottenham, however the Reds appear to have fought off all competition for his signature.
Rodgers revealed that the Anfield based side were looking to sign Konoplyanka before the close of the window at 11pm tonight, and said people at the club were working hard to get the deal over the line.
There’s obviously an interest in the player,’ the Liverpool boss said.
'We will see how it evolves. The staff that are over there have done brilliant work in terms of giving us every chance to get the player.
‘We’ll keep watching it, but he’s a player we like for now and the future as well.’
According to reports, Liverpool will have to fork out around £16 million in order to get the deal done.
The Reds have endured a frustrating transfer window to day, and are yet to announce a major signing.
They looked set to land Mohamed Salah from Basel, only for Chelsea to swoop in at snap him up at the last minute.
With or without Konoplyanka, Liverpool travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom on Sunday.
