Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andros Townsend will not be joining Manchester United, according to top football agent Phil Smith, reports talkSPORT.
The England international was this morning linked with a surprise move to the Premier League champions by The Sun, but any chances of a deadline day transfer happening has been swiftly ruled out.
Red Devils boss David Moyes was understood to be interested in bringing the 22-year-old to Old Trafford during the summer, but according to The Independent was put off by Spurs' £8million valuation.
That figure has since risen to more than £15million, following Townsend's impressive performances at White Hart Lane this season.
Tim Sherwood has worked with the talented winger right through Tottenham's academy set-up, and will be determined to keep the youngster in north London.
Thankfully for him, Smith says that suggestions Townsend will join Manchester United today are wide of the mark, when interviewed on the Hawksbee and Jacobs Show this morning.
"It was happening and it was in full swing, but I don't believe it will happen now and Tottenham won't want to sell," he said.
