Legendary soccer star Pele has revealed how he nearly ended up playing for NFL franchise the New York Giants.
The Brazilian legend ended his career playing in the city with the New York Cosmos in the 1970s, and it seems that in the immediate aftermath of his retirement decision he had the opportunity to change sports.
According to the associated press, Pele was asked to join the NFL team after he "did well" in a few kicking tryouts.
But unfortunately for the world the goal-scoring legend turned down the opportunity because "he didn't want to take on more responsibilities at the time."
It would have been interesting to see one of the greatest soccer players of all time slotting 50 yard field goals at Giants stadium but Pele was more known for delicate flicks and finesse, rather than his long punts up field.
Maybe Robert Huth would be more appropriate?
