Manchester United remain favourites to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend on deadline day.
Sky Bet offer 3/1 on the England star moving up north in the final hours of the window, despite the player’s agent revealing a move was unlikely earlier in the day.
“I don't believe it will happen now and Tottenham won't want to sell,” he told TalkSPORT.
No other club appears to be in the market, with Manchester City next best at 40/1, whilst Arsenal and Liverpool are even further back at 50s.
David Moyes enquired about the player in the summer, according to The Independent, but was put off by an £8million price tag.
That figure has now increased to over £15million after some fine domestic and international performances, although the same paper claims the Manchester United boss is ‘undeterred’ despite the massive rise.
Logic suggests that a move to Old Trafford would have been more likely if the Red Devils had managed to offload Luis Nani – who had been linked with a number of clubs in Europe, including Spurs.
However, he’s still at Manchester United with just hours left to go, and despite Wilfried Zaha leaving the Premier League champions on loan, a move for Townsend is looking highly unlikely - despite the bookmakers’ price.
