Chelsea starlet set for deadline day exit

Chelsea starlet Gael Kakuta is poised to join Lazio on transfer deadline day in England, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims the 22-year-old is set to leave the Blues for a final time, after several unsuccessful loans away from west London.

Kakuta has spent time at Fulham, Bolton, Dijon and Vitesse over the past three-and-a-half years, and has failed to make a significant impact at any of the four clubs.

And, after returning to Chelsea early from his most recent spell in Holland, it appears the Premier League title chasers are set to cut ties with the Frenchman.

The Blues landed Kakuta in controversy back in 2007, and were hit with a transfer embargo and fine following the move from Lens.

However, he’s failed to force his way into the first team fold at Chelsea, and is now poised to move to Serie ‘A’ for a nominal fee in a three-year deal.

His exit would be the only significant departure from Stamford Bridge on deadline day, although Kurt Zouma did return to France after Jose Mourinho secured his signature earlier today for the Blues.
