Liverpool have been rebuffed in their approach for Swansea City defender Chico Flores on deadline day, according to reports.
The 26-year-old emerged as a late candidate for a move to the Reds, after initial enquiries for full-back Micah Richards were dismissed.
Brendan Rodgers then turned his attention to the Spanish defender at his old club, the Metro claims, but have been told there is ‘no chance’ of a deal taking place.
Liverpool have endured a transfer window to forget thus far, after missing out on versatile Egyptian international target Mohamad Salah earlier in the month.
The Reds have also been linked with a move for winger Yevhan Konoplyanka during the January transfer window, but at this stage the Ukrainian is yet to arrive at Anfield.
And, if they fail to sign the 24-year-old, the window can only be seen as a disappointment for Liverpool - presuming there isn't a dramatic turnaround with regards to Chico moving to Merseyside.
