Manchester United, City & PSG braced for triple transfer tussle

Published 1 Comments

Manchester City's long-term interest in Eliaquim Mangala is set to culminate in a formal offer this summer, but according to the Telegraph Manuel Pellegrini's men face fierce competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United for the French defensive starlet.

Mangala has been watched by City for more than 12 months, a spell which has seen him become the heartbeat of Porto's defence and a full France international at the age of 22.

Porto have slapped a £45m price tag on the towering centre-back that has so far proved enough to fend off interest from City and elsewhere, but three of Europe's leading lights will all be back this summer to try and sign one of continent's most consistent young players.

The Telegraph understand that City's foiled £50m bid for Porto pair Fernandao and Mangala will not be enough stop the Premier League leaders reviving their interest in June, but PSG are also confident of bringing the player to Ligue 1 also.

United are the third club strongly mentioned in connection with Mangala's signature, as Red Devils boss David Moyes searched for a trustworthy replacement for Nemanja Vidic on a long-term basis.
