Hernanes has completed a move from Lazio to Inter Milan. The 28-year-old central midfielder left the Stadio Olimpico in tears on Thursday before completing a medical and signing the contract on deadline day.
Hernanes later stated on Facebook that he cried: "not because anyone is forcing me to leave the club, but because I`m leaving a club, a city and a people I love." He even gave his boots to one of the many Lazio fans surrounding his car. Hernanes also said "The decision is purely mine. I'm leaving because of purely football reasons. I told the president I want to leave because I believe it will help my career as a professional footballer."
Internazionale currently sit in fifth place in the Serie A table, five points ahead of 10th placed Lazio, the Hernanes has left. Inter are, however, 8 points off Fiorentina who sit in fourth place and 11 off third placed Napoli.
This move should be an opportunity for Hernanes to prove his quality ahead of the World Cup, as his place in the Brazil team is being contested by the likes of Luis Gustavo, Oscar dos Santos and Paulinho. Hernanes currently only has 23 senior caps to his name, and this isn't so good at the age of 28.
Hernanes plays as a central or attacking midfield player, a fine passer of the ball, with Brazilian unpredictability. Indeed he has often been compared to Brazil legend Zico, especially as Hernanes is a powerful and accurate striker of the ball, with a taste for free kicks.
