Ding Junhui won his fourth major ranking event of the season, as he beat Judd Trump 9-5 in the final of the German Masters.

The Chinese sensation trailed 4-2 at one point, but won seven of the next eight frames to stun the world number four, who had only lost four frames over the past week at Berlin’s Tempodrom.

It was his 10th ranking victory and he also becomes the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1990/91 to win as my titles in one season – having already won the Shanghai Masters, Indian Open and International Championship.

A decent long red allowed Trump to make an 80 and take the opening frame, before a loose safety let Ding in with an 87 to level.

The 24-year-old regained the lead in the third frame, and took the next one to take a two-frame advantage into the mid-session interval.

A 76 from Ding halved the deficit after the break, but runs of 35 and 33 helped his opponent double the distance once again.

The world number three replied though with breaks of 51 and 81 to bring the score level at the end of the afternoon’s play, and set things up nicely going into the evening session.

He then grabbed the match by the scruff of its neck, as he knocked in back-to-back centuries of 125 and 101 on his way to taking and establishing the lead for the first time.

A 72 put him 7-4 up before he edged a close 12th frame to move one away from victory.

Trump held his nerve to keep the final alive, but missed a blue off the spot in the next and Ding cleared to the pink to seal a fourth major ranking win of the season.
