Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is lining up a potential move for Birmingham City midfielder Reece Brown, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 17-year-old has impressed Birmingham fans this season, in what is his first year off professional football. Brown has been accelerated into the Birmingham first team, and has widely impressed - giving a shining performance in the Blues' slim cup defeat to Premier League Swansea City.
And this has alerted the likes of City, who would be willing to make an offer to cash-strapped Birmingham, who are in no situation to deny cash offers. Manchester City's development manager Patrick Vieira has been to watch the youngster several times already this team, giving further strength to the transfer speculation.
The clubs are moving towards a genuine partnership, with City boss Manuel Pellegrini already having sent teenage stars Emyr Huws and Albert Rusnak to the Blues this season.
This could prove useful in the pursuit of youngster Brown, with City keen on tying up potential stars to coincide with the opening of their now academy campus. The new centre will open this summer at a predicted cost of £100million.
