Floyd Mayweather Jr. should have left dumbfounded and with his head in his hands in disbelief on Sunday night while watching the Seattle Seahawks crush the Denver Broncos 43-8 in the Super Bowl.

This is because social media was awash with rumours that 'Money' had placed a massive $10.4million bet on the Broncos to prevail in the game at the MetLife Stadium in New York, with the above picture accompanying it.

Mayweather was bombarded with taunts following the defeat of Peyton Manning's side and eventually came out to deny he had placed the bet.

In fact, Mayweather denied placing any bet at all and insisted the only thing he would place such an amount on was for him to win one of his fights.

Posting on Instagram, he claimed that the story was false and that if he had bet on the Super Bowl he would have, of course, backed winners Seattle.

"Somebody lied to you all. If I was going to bet, I would have bet on the Seattle Seahawks. I'm the best defensive fighter, it's only right to go with the best defensive team," he said.

That message was accompanied with a photo explaining that no bet had been made, which you can see below.
