Arsenal could make a sensational summer move for former Manchester City bad-boy Mario Balotelli, according to reports in Italy.
Speculation is mounting that Arsene Wenger could target the Italian forward as he looks to add more firepower to his frontline, with Olivier Giroud his only viable option up top in the long run.
It had been expected that the Gunners would strengthen in that department during January, but a drawn out, protracted chase for Schalke starlet Julian Draxler ended with Wenger having to made do with bringing in only midfielder Kim Kallstrom.
Balotelli himself has been repeatedly linked with an exit from AC Milan, despite only joining them in January of last year.
The controversial forward has already recently been linked with a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, and it’s likely that he will opt to leave the San Siro if his club cannot get Champions League football - a scenario that’s looking increasingly unlikely.
It’s virtually guaranteed that Wenger will look to add a top class striker in the summer, but whether or not he will gamble on the unpredictable Balotelli is another debate altogether.
