The Vancouver Canucks have completed a trade deal for Raphael Diaz while Dale Weise will move to Montreal.
The Canucks confirmed on their website yesterday that the deal had been completed and Diaz is expected to make his first appearance for Vancouver against the Boston Bruins tonight.
Diaz expressed his delight via his Twitter claiming: "I'm now proud to be part of the Vancouver Canucks and I'm already excited for the first game tomorrow!"
Raphael Diaz, who will represent Switzerland at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics has had a good season so far with the Montreal Canadiens amassing 11 assists and just 12 penalty minutes in 46 games.
While averaging 18:53 on the ice in Montreal, Diaz was ranked third on the team for blocked shots with an impressive 100. The 28-year-old defenseman will be a great addition to the Canucks defence.
Dale Weise, who makes the move to Montreal in the trade and is also expected to be available for the Canadiens when they host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
The former Canucks forward has three goals and nine assists this season across 44 games.
Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is delighted with the arrival of Weise who he claims "has a physical style of play who brings additional toughness and grit to our group of forwards,"
