Eden Hazard provided further evidence to back up Jose Mourinho's claim that the Belgian winger is the most exciting young player in world football at the moment, after he turned in another scintillating performance in Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Manchester City last night.
The 22-year-old was in inspirational form at the Etihad Stadium on Monday evening, and helped the Blues end City's unbeaten home record in the Premier League this season.
In the aftermath of the game, Mourinho mentioned Hazard in the same breath as Messrs Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, hinting that the £32million signing has the potential to challenge both for world football's most illustrious crown in the future.
Whilst it might be a little premature to talk up the Chelsea star's credentials, his showings this season have surely put him in contention for this year's Premier League Player of the Year award.
Hazard will be integral to Chelsea's chances of winning the title in 2014, and if he helps successfully deliver the domestic crown then that will only enhance his prospects of gaining personal recognition later in the campaign.
In light of the former Lille star's standout performances in 2013/14, GiveMeSport picks its top five contenders for the Premier League Player of the Year award this year.
