Manchester United set to make summer bid for Tiote

Published 1 Comments

Manchester United are preparing a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote, reports The Daily Star

David Moyes is a long term admirer of the Ivorian international as he tried to sign the midfielder when he was manager of Everton.

Reports have suggested that Manchester United enquired about the star's availability in the January transfer window, and now it appears that the Premier League champions will step up their interest in the midfielder in the summer.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has identified the 27-year-old as the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick.

Carrick is now 32-years-old and entering the twilight years of his career at Old Trafford. Manchester United fans will be hoping for a number of signings in the summer after a disappointing campaign so far.

United currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification.
