Out of all the baseball prediction systems that are rolling out at this time of year, Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA system in among the most respected.

They have crunched the numbers and run the analysis on the 2014 season to predict the winners of each championship across the MLB. So far it seems the Los Angeles Dodgers are in for a good season, a great season in fact.

PECOTA works by simulating a season thousands of times before the average results are calculated. That system usually means that the predicted results are quite conservative, bring most teams in between the 71 and 89 wins bracket.

Even so, the Dodgers have still managed to convince this little gizmo that they are good value for the favourites tag this season, predicted to go 98-64, nine full games ahead of the next best team.

The Dodgers will only allow 579 runs in the National League Western Championship–the lowest number by far– according to the projection and score 732.

A list of all the divisional champions are as follows:

AL East champ: Red Sox
AL Central champ: Tigers
AL West champ: Athletics
AL wild cards: Rays, Angels

NL East champ: Nationals
NL Central champ: Cardinals
NL West champ: Dodgers
NL wild cards: Giants, Braves
