Floyd Mayweather continues to make fight fans wait for official confirmation of his next opponent and teased both Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana as possibilities via Twitter earlier this week, leading to an online poll which made it clear that the British contender is not first choice among hardcore fans for a prime title shot.

Khan is believed to have agreed a deal in principle to face Mayweather back in December, but 'Money' has played possum ever since and refused to make the former two-time world champion's Vegas date concrete, giving Maidana hope he can still gatecrash the mega-money pay day.

Maidana dismantled previously unbeaten Adrien Broner in his last bout and clearly has fight fans on his side in straight choice between the South American slugger and Khan, with a whopping 79% of fans asked by FightNews.com siding with 'El Chino'.

Mayweather's non-committal stance over naming an opponent for a Las Vegas showdown on May 3rd could leave Khan in limbo, particularly if the late rally for Maidana to steal his spot continues to gather pace.
