As National Signing Day nears it's end Lorenzo Carter has elected for the University of Georgia.
The number 18 overall recruiting prospect has opted to stay in-state and link up with the Bulldogs, turning down offers from LSU, Florida, and reigning national champions Florida State.
The 6' 5" defensive end was the top ranked player in Georgia and is regarded as one of the finest pass rushers in the class of 2014.
He was selected for first-team All-USA honors and the five-star recruit picked up six tackles in the Under Armour All-American game this year.
He had a productive senior year, helping his Norcross High School to a second consecutive state title, and will be joining the likes of Sony Michel and Lamont Gaillard in Athens.
The opportunity to gain game time in his freshman year will undoubtedly have been an influencing factor in Carter's decision, and with Georgia in need of an effective pass rusher they make a good fit.
Carter spoke of the potential move to Georgia last week:
"They're in my back yard. They're close to home.
"My parents can come see me whenever they wanted. They'll be at all the games," he told the Athens Banner-Herald.
