Manchester City's summer chase for Porto midfielder Fernando faces fresh competition from Juventus, with Tuttosport reporting that the Serie A giants have added the Brazilian midfielder to their list of summer transfer targets.

Fernando has been persistently linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with City leading a chase for the midfielder enforcer's signature that also includes Manchester United and Liverpool.

All three Premier League giants could face a summer snub though, with Juventus now monitoring the 26-year-old's situation closely with a view to a summer bid.

Juve are believed to have identified Fernando as a cut-price target with his contract expiring at the end of next season, with Porto extremely unlikely to persuade the Selecao star that his long-term future belongs in Portugal.

Porto have perennially been a treasure trove for some of Europe's biggest clubs in recent seasons and that trend looks set to continue this summer, with Eliaquim Mangala also on City's radar with a view to double swoop.

City remain in the driving seat for Fernando's signature but Juve could move to steal that deal if they lose Paul Pogba or Andrea Pirlo this summer, as Antonio Conte weighs up reshuffling a squad who have secured successive Serie A titles in the last two seasons.
