England are completely ruined at the moment. Cook would be wishing he had never toured Australia, rightly so because of the disastrous effect it has had and it may have for the time to come.
Jonathan Trott (still to recover), Graeme Swann, Andy Flower and the latest shock, Kevin Pietersen are all gone and the English captain finds himself in all sorts of trouble.
He had had to face shocks after shocks and as mentioned above, the most recent one being Kevin Pietersen’s sacking.
Leave aside all his “sins” and other activities; the South African born has still gone down as statistically the greatest English batsman ever.
“Box-office cricketer” as he was termed by former England captain Michael Vaughan, Kapers enjoyed a gigantic amount of success throughout his career. He was a part of an Ashes winning squad four times, a feat that has been achieved by very few English players.
Adding to that, he was the man of the tournament in the T20 World Cup of 2010 which The Brits won under the captaincy of Paul Collingwood. Talking about his style of play now, “Panache” is what describes it.
The fact that he could turn the whole game on his own head was well known to every opponent team and that is why he remained a headache for every single captain in international cricket.
In his glorious career, he turned many test matches in just one session and he won numerous ODIs single-handedly. Though his style of play was often criticised by many, he never changed it just like a leopard that doesn’t change its spots and may be, being an obdurate cost him his career in the end.
All these knocks, Pietersen’s presence and his impact would be fondly missed by each and every cricket fan. Who’ll replace him still remains an unanswered question, rather an unsolved puzzle. The inventor of the “Switch Hit” won’t be seen again. Farewell KP.
