Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has declared he’ll be back playing in 15 days.

The Brazilian took to his Twitter account in a hope to prevent rumours from circulating about his time on the sidelines.

“Good afternoon, I would like to tell you about my injury and quell rumors. I return to play in 15 days or less,“ he tweeted.

This is after a multitude of reports had declared him out of action for up to four weeks.

Fernandinho picked up the thigh injury in training before Chelsea’s visit to the Etihad Stadium on Monday night. The London club ended City’s impressive 100% home record, where the 28-year-old’s absence was telling.

The loss of the central midfielder is a blow for Manuel Pellegrini, especially with Javi Garcia injured, and Jack Rodwell and James Milner not fully fit yet.

Pellegrini will, however, take solace in the news of Fernandinho’s lay-off being only a fortnight.

The Chilean will harbour a hope in the back of his mind that his most consistent performer this season will be available to face Barcelona, at the Etihad Stadium, in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg on February 18.
