Last night the LA Lakers came away with a victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers – thanks in large part to a little-known NBA rule.

In the fourth quarter Center Robert Sacre committed his sixth foul, a move that would usually result in the player leaving the game for its remainder.

But because the Lakers had only started the game with eight, and had suffered a number of in-game injuries Sacre was allowed to play out the rest of the game as 5-on-5 is a requirement of the NBA.

In honor of this bizarre rule we take a look at five other little-known laws that remain in play.
