Michael Jordan may have long since departed the NBA, playing his last game for the Chicago Bulls 16 years ago, but the basketball superstar still has plenty to shout about when it comes to selling sports shoes.
The Jordan Brand, carried by the Air Jordan shoes - the first of which was released in 1985 - made an incredible $2.25 billion last year, which is significantly more than his closest rival LeBron James.
LeBron's branded footwear earned $300 million in 2013, still way below that made by Jordan, and the Bulls legend accounts for 54 percent of the basketball shoes sold in the US.
The Air Jordan brand is something recognisable around the globe despite being three decades on from its launch, and they remain one of the most iconic sports shoes ever produced.
