Manchester United: 5 potential Nemanja Vidic replacements (1)

Published 1 Comments

David Moyes' job at Manchester United got even bigger last night as Red Devils skipper Nemanja Vidic revealed he would be leaving the Premier League champions at the end of the season.

The Serbian defender, who is out of contract in the summer, has decided to move onto a 'new challenge' after spending eight years at Old Trafford.

Vidic has been a rock at the back for Manchester United since he arrived in the Premier League back in January 2006.

The 32-year-old has proven to be one of Sir Alex Ferguson's best signings. The former Manchester United chief spent a mere £7million on Vidic in the same window that saw Patrice Evra complete a move to Old Trafford.

Vidic struck up a fantastic partnership with Rio Ferdinand - during their peak - with their best performances coming in the 2007/08 season when United won the double.

The defender has been on the wane in recent years - mainly due to injury - however he remains one of the best centre-backs in Europe when fully fit.

Moyes now faces an enormous challenge in trying to bring a defender of Vidic's quality to Old Trafford in the summer.

We have decided to list five possible replacements for Vidic - following his proposed departure from Manchester United.
