Manchester United have famously been searching for a Paul Scholes replacement for some time now but Red Devils boss David Moyes will now have to strengthen even further during the summer transfer window following Nemanja Vidic's decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
Vidic announced to ManUtd.com that this season will be his last with the English champions, saying: “It’s the last year of my contract and I have had eight wonderful years here. My time at this great club will always rank as the best years of my career."
Vidic went further to confirm he had no intention of staying in England and will continue his career in another league.
The experienced centre-back will have no shortage of suitors and will be available on a free transfer when his contract expires in June with Italian Serie A side Inter reportedly interested in the Serbian along with others in Italy's top flight.
Another possible destination for Vidic is Turkish giants Galatasaray, who are reportedly keen to add to the centre backs already hefty wages.
With the Serbian stopper on his way out and other ageing members of the United defence set to follow, Moyes may have a new priority on his summer shopping list.
