Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic decides on future
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to keep Ashley Cole
Liverpool and Arsenal gear up for Premier League showdown this weekend
Hello and welcome to the Give Me Sport report - on a day when Nemanja Vidic officially confirmed he will leave Manchester United this summer.
The Serbian stalwart has been nothing short of sensational for the majority of his eight years at Old Trafford, but at the age of 32 has decided to call time on a stellar Manchester United career.
Vidic has revealed that he wants to challenge himself abroad next season, perhaps the first of many to leave Manchester United if David Moyes fails to write a sinking ship with Champions League qualification.
Vidic's departure means Moyes is left swimming against the tide in terms of keeping experienced players at the club, something social media was quick to point out today as the United boss was trolled stranded at sea without his skipper.
Another Premier League legend who may look to pastures new is Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole, but not if Blues boss Jose Mourinho has anything to do with it.
Cole has struggled for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge this season and is still waiting on a contract offer along with John Terry and Frank Lampard, but Mourinho has insisted Cole still has a future and Chelsea want to renew his contract.
The Blues boss was speaking ahead of another packed weekend of Premier League action, the highlight of which comes at Anfield as Arsenal host Liverpool.
The Gunners were 2-0 winners when the pair met earlier this season, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is focused on making sure the result is very different this time around.
Arsenal have different ideas though and are desperate to prove they can last the pace in a congested title race, with a win at Anfield the kind of result Arsene Wenger craves to make it clear the Gunners have staying power this season.
