Carolina Panther wide receiver, Steve Smith has announced that he and his wife are expecting a new arrival on twitter. Smith also announced that he would wear the name 'Smith Sr' on his jersey next season.

Smith tweeted an image of an ultrasound on his @89SteveSmith account along with the caption:  "It’s official. This year the name on the back of my jersey will read Smith Sr. #itsaboy #agent89sr #panthernation"

The receiver has been with the Panthers for all 13 years of his NFL career. He was a third round draft pick in 2001.

Smith already has three children with his wife Angie, named Baylee, Peyton, Boston and now presumably Steve Jr.

The Carolina Panthers team shop will be licking their lips at the opportunity to sell more, updated Steve Smith jerseys and memorabilia. Of course there will also undoubtedly be a line of childrenswear for the newest member of the Smith family.

The Panthers made the playoffs this season for the first time since 2008 but were defeated in the divisional round by the San Francisco 49ers.

Smith had 745 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
