Are the Indiana Pacers a team that is destined for great things in the NBA this season?

Paul George certainly thinks so, and he has even gone as far to say that the Pacers are the NBA's version of the NFL's Super Bowl XLVIII winners the Seattle Seahawks.

"We approach it as a physical team and we do everything from a toughness standpoint," George said.

Then he said, "Like Seattle."

Like a football team?

"Seattle's got individual guys that stand out defensively, as we do, and as a group we put it all together," George said of the Super Bowl champion Seahawks. "We're a great comparison to that team because we do it from an individual standpoint and as a group."

That statement from George can come off as arrogant , but saying that would be far from the truth.

What the small forward means when he expresses himself outlandishly is that the Pacers, just like the Seahawks, have a great defense and they are underrated.

Now, the Pacers are underrated for good reason to an extent. As a ball club they haven't made it to the NBA Finals since 2000 when they lost the series 4-2 to the Lakers in their only ever appearance.

Their success this year will depend upon the considerable talents of George. With his big-play and big-game ability, the Pacers are the real deal this season, as their win over Miami Heat earlier on in the season showed.

However, they desperately need to win the top seed ranking in the Eastern Conference this season. Last year they just lost out to the Heat in an seven game play-off series.

This season with home court advantage they should prevail if the stars align.
