Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide team that he coaches are somewhat of a phenomenon, with an outstanding NCAA record of 79-15 in the last seven seasons.

That record has been down to the ability of Saban and his staff to assemble an impressive list of high school recruits year in year out.

This year's National Signing Day was no different for the Crimson Tide as they picked up 19 players that were ranked in the ESPN top 300 available, with Saban revealing the key to getting the selections right.

"I think the biggest thing is the quality of the people in the program that we have. If you have good quality people who will commit to doing things the way you want to do them, I think that's the key to it and that's how they become successful," Saban told ESPN.

"The key to all of this is whether these guys that we are brining in can develop and reach their potential, as that's what we like to do as a program."

Since Saban's first recruiting class with Alabama, his team have not been rated below number three, and the great coach admitted he gets a lot of help from staff regarding selections.

"First of all there are a lot of great people who contribute to getting players here. It starts with our coaches. They make good choices and pinpoint and identify players that we want," he continued.

"The important thing is to get after them early. We also do a good job as a university community. When people come here they find it very easy to relax and fell at home, which is important as well."
