Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has hit out at his side’s performance earlier on today, in a match that saw them humbled 5-1 away at Liverpool.
According to the Metro, which cites posts from the Polish international on his own Facebook page, Szczesny did little to hide his displeasure at the recent, claiming his team were ‘f***ing embarrassing’.
Martin Skrtel (2), Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge all struck to put Liverpool 4-0 inside 20 minutes against the Gunners, who entered the game on top of the Premier League table following Manchester City’s loss to Chelsea.
And Arsene Wenger’s men did very little to rouse themselves from there on in, with a second-half Mikel Arteta penalty sparing them from the added humiliation of a white wash.
Szczesny himself, who wasn’t at any major fault for any of the Reds’ goals, then wasted little time in hitting out at the result, claiming on Facebook: “That was f….ing embarrassing!
“Apologies to anyone who sat through 90mins of that game.”
The defeat to Liverpool was only the first in a daunting run of games for the Gunners. Wenger’s charges face Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the coming weeks, and will see their trophy credentials well and truly put to the test.
