Manchester United target five major signings in £100m spree

Moyes wants to rebuild his Manchester United team.

David Moyes has told Manchester United that he needs £100m this summer to rebuild the squad, reports the Daily Mail.

The successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford has struggled to maintain the high standards Manchester United fans have become used to over the last 20 years.

Despite winning the title last season, the same group of players have faltered under Moyes and currently sit 10 points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

In an attempt to get the Red Devils back to the top of the Premier League, Moyes is targeting a huge summer spending spree that could see as many as four major players brought to Old Trafford for as much as £100m.

At the top of the list are Juventus midfield duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba, who together could cost Manchester United £60m.

Pogba came through the ranks at Old Trafford before leaving for Turin but has since become one of the brightest young talents in world football. He has formed a formidable partnership with Chilean Vidal and Moyes hopes to bring both of them to Manchester to shore up a weak midfield.

Then Moyes will look to strengthen his defence and is interested in bringing both Luke Shaw and Joel Veltman in. Chelsea, who are interested in the former, will provide stern competition for his signature while Arsenal are also believed to be interested in Veltman.

Moyes will then finish off his transfer business with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who is wanted by a host of Premier League clubs as well.

It will be a big test for both Moyes and chief executive Ed Woodward who struggled to assert themselves in the transfer window last summer. C

onvincing the players above to join Manchester United ahead of rivals may be too much to ask in all cases but the £37m signing of Juan Mata proves that big players still want to move to Old Trafford.
