Juan Mata has urged Manchester United players and fans to stick together and stay strong as David Moyes' side try and find the consistency they need to get back into the top four following another poor result.
In his weekly column for Grada 360, the £37million January transfer target from Chelsea described the draw with Fulham on Sunday evening as "impossible" and lamented rotten luck at Old Trafford as they fell 13 points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
"Honestly, I think football is being cruel with us. We did everything to get the three points, but in the end this is about goals and Fulham scored in the last minute," he said.
"It seems impossible if you look at the stats, but we couldn’t win and it would have been a very important victory."
Darren Bent shocked Manchester United fans at Old Trafford in the last minute of injury time when he nodded home from close range after David de Gea parried a shot.
Moyes could not believe what he was seeing at the finale of 90 minutes that had mostly been the Premier League champions attacking the Fulham goal after a defensive lapse saw Steve Sidwell stroll into the middle of the United area and cushion home a volley into the corner.
Ten minutes remained when Robin van Persie tapped in at the far post following a six-yard box scramble and it looked as though the Red Devils were on course for the win they deserved when Michael Carrick's effort from the edge of the area took a deflection on its way into the top corner.
However, another momentary loss in concentration allowed Bent to salvage an unlikely point for the bottom side.
