Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic announced last week that this season would be his last for the club and, according to reports in Italy, the centre-back has already decided on Inter as his next destination.
The Serbian is out of contract at the end of the campaign and, following much speculation, revealed through the club’s official website that he would leave following its expiration. The caveat to this was that he would not stay in the Premier League, but leave for a different country.
Milan would appear to be Vidic’s next destination after Ciro Venerato, journalist for Italian TV station RAI, claimed the Manchester United icon had agreed a two-year deal with Inter after undertaking a medical.
Adam Digby, a respected scribe on Italian football, was the first to tweet the assertion from Venerato, although wisely adding that, of course, it may not be true.
Vidic will leave Old Trafford after almost a decade of sustained success with the club, during which time he has won five Premier League titles and lifted the Champions League as skipper in 2008.
By the time of his Manchester United departure, Vidic would have made over 450 appearances for the club, placing him just outside the top 10 in the Red Devils’ history.
