With all the furore surrounding the Kevin Pietersen saga it is easy to dismiss the fact that England have named their touring party for the one-day Internationals in the West Indies and the World Twenty/20 in Bangladesh as they bid to rebuild after the Australian disaster.

In addition to playing three one-day internationals, England will also face West Indies in three Twenty20 matches in early March. They will then travel to Bangladesh for the World Twenty/20, which takes place between 16 March and 6 April. England's squad, whilst full of capable cricketers, is missing a true world class player that can give supporters hope of winning a major World tournament once again.

Only players such as Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan can claim to have the shot selection and presence similar to Pietersen but they still lack his x-factor. Ben Stokes has the potential to be a star of the future but is only new to International cricket and supporters should not place their hopes on such a young cricketer so soon.

Having said all that the squad itself gives hope for the future. Whilst there are players who will have been scarred by the recent Australian tour debacle there are others who are new to International cricket such as Worcestershire's Moeen Ali and Lancashire's Stephen Parry. Added to this are players such as Stokes and Chris Jordan, who can hold their heads high after their Australian tour, and the experience of players such as Broad, Morgan, Bopara, and Luke Wright and the squad has a look of a well balanced side with hope for the
future.

The immediate hopes may not be great and the World Twenty/20 has come far too soon, but over time this squad could develop in to a very good side and could become a side we can feel proud of once again. England touring party for the Caribbean One-day tour and the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh
