Russell Wilson has been underrated throughout his football career. Passed over by the best schools because of his height, he was drafted in the third round because teams thought that Andrew Luck and Colin Kaepernick were better.
But Seattle Seahawks teammate, Michael Bennett believes there is no better quarterback in the league than Wilson.
Speaking on the Colin Cowherd show, Bennett said: "Right now he's the number one quarterback. This game is built on championships and the number one quarterback is the one that wins the championship."
Wilson was selected with the 75th pick in the 2012 draft but is the first quarterback from the class to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory.
Bennett also referred to Peyton Manning's record breaking season in his glowing appraisal of Wilson:
"All the stats don't matter, all that matters is wins. He's the number one quarterback in my eyes."
Wilson, incidentally is one of the lowest paid quarterbacks in the league with a total contract of just $3 million over four years.
Peyton Manning was awarded the NFL MVP and offensive player of the year honors at the end of season awards ceremony.
