Southampton have joined fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Sheffield United's highly-rated defender Harry Maguire, according to the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old defender has attracted several admirers since breaking into the League One side's starting line-up.
The England Under 21 international, who has already racked up over 120 appearances for Sheffield United, looked particularly impressive against Fulham in the FA Cup last week.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho sent scouts to run the rule over the youngster as the Portuguese tactician is said to be keen on bolstering his defensive options in the summer.
And it now appears Southampton have joined the running to try to lure Maguire away from Bramall Lane before the start of the season.
Representatives from the south coast side were at Sheffield United's ground on Saturday to get a better look at the £5million-rated starlet.
Sheffield United will be hoping the Premier League quartet will drive up the price of the centre-back by starting a transfer bidding war.
