Borussia Dortmund: Are they in decline?

Borussia Dortmund have risen from just an ordinary German club to one of Europe's best in the last couple of years.

Last season Dortmund reached the Champions League final and were impressive on route, with Robert Lewandowski and co. destroying Real Madrid on one occasion.

They looked very impressive throughout their whole campaign and looked to be on the up. The season before that they won the double  - the German Cup and Bundesliga - ahead of Bayern Munich.

And they have many top class players, like Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski. However, last season their star man Mario Gotze left for rivals Bayern and now Lewandowski will join them in the summer.

And now, with the likes of Łukasz Piszczek being linked with Arsenal, Dortmund could be set to lose more of their top stars.

They are already not looking as sharp as they were last season even though some new signings arrived last summer.

They struggled to beat teams like Arsenal, Napoli and Marseille in the group stage of the Champions League and I don't expect them to reach the semi-final of the competition this year due to the standard of teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and PSG.

This Dortmund team are in decline and they may be set for future struggles.
