New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony wants the team to improve and fine a new gear after a disappointing campaign so far, reports ESPN.
In comparison to last year, the Knicks have struggled to replicate their strong form which saw them at 32-17 and with the team currently at 20-31, Anthony is hoping his team will show improvement, starting with their clash against the Sacramento Kings at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Anthony said: “I am a little disappointed just from as far as where we stand at in the standings, where we are as a team.
“Our record, that is the most important thing.”
The Knicks have been in terrible form of late having lost four of their last five matches, and their latest setback came against Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday as they went down 112-100 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
And now, ahead of their crunch game with the Kings, Anthony wants the team to step up a gear.
He continued by saying: “I am always going to be in an extra gear, having new gears.
"I got to get that same mindset to my teammates and make sure that they know how important closing the season is.”
The Knicks have the perfect opportunity to beat the Kings tomorrow as they have also been struggling of late having lost their last two matches.
