After watching the thrashing Arsenal received on Saturday afternoon at the hands of Liverpool many players seemed to just not show up and cost the Gunners the game at Anfield, but one player in particular seemed to show no effort whatsoever in the recent game and that was German playmaker Mesut Ozil.
Many times throughout the game we saw Ozil get the ball taken from him far too easily, he was making passes that got easily intercepted by the Liverpool defence and midfield and he failed to create any goalscoring opportunities which is the real reason why Wenger bought the attacking midfield player for a large fee, to create such chance's.
But the Gunners boss has today come out and stated his defence in Ozil, at a press conference the French manager, when asked about the midfielder, said: "Mesut Ozil? He was like everybody on Saturday he was not in a good day. There's nobody really to ostracise from that game we are just conscious we were not good enough.''
He has also stated that Ozil's lack of form recently has happened because the player is only adapting to life in the Premier League, stating: "He didn't have the best of games, but that can happen. He works very hard to adapt to the physical level of the Premier League and for me he is an exceptional player.''
So should Ozil be given so much time to adapt to Premier League football or is it wrong that a world class player such as Ozil be given this as an excuse for bad form?
