Dunk contest connoisseur Skip Bayless is not happy. More specifically, he's not happy with LeBron James.
What did the four-time MVP do to attract his ire? Oh, no biggie, just released a video of awesome dunks a week prior to the dunk contest.
But to Skip, that's easy meat.
"I am stunned LeBron acting so childish, taunting us w/ an annual 1-man dunk contest instead of ducking the real one for the 11th straight year," Bayless began in a series of Tweets.
"Sensational solo post-practice dunk shows - no competition - are indictment of LeBron, who obviously is afraid to lose vs hot young dunkers."
Lets pause there for a second. "Hot young dunkers." OK, now we can resume.
"LeBron obviously fears mounting pressure to live up to enormous expectations to pull off spectacular dunks and dominate Dunk Contest."
First, LeBron's mounting pressure. Please. How about the pressure to win titles, the pressure he heaped on himself when he formed the "Big Three".
You think he gives a damn about some dunk contest? Sorry, Dunk Contest.
And enormous expectations? You think anyone would care if he flopped in the dunk contest and still won five rings. Would anyone really bring up the dunk contest and say, yes, that tainted his legacy.
Still, Skip continues.
"I do not believe LeBron will ever do a Dunk Contest. But I expect him to taunt us w/ his solo show every year. No respect for that."
Skip feels taunted. Maybe that's what all this is about. He hasn't got the ripped six pack, the 38-in vertical leap, the superhuman athleticism. He's not a hot young dunker anymore.
And finally, the most ridiculous of the lot.
"MJ, Dr J, Dominique all did multiple Dunk Contests. LeBron: 4 MVPs, 2 rings, 0 Dunk Contests."
Seriously, nobody counts how many Dunk Contests NBA players win!
IT'S NOT A REAL STAT!!!
